Our return and refund policy covers the three main product categories offered by Parrots for home:
- Live parrots
- Parrot eggs
- Parrot food
To be eligible for a return or refund, the item(s) must meet the conditions outlined below and be returned within 30 calendar days of the original purchase date.
2. Return Eligibility Criteria
Returns may be accepted under the following general conditions:
- The item was purchased directly from Parrots for home.
- You are the original purchaser and can provide proof of purchase.
- The return is initiated within 30 days from the purchase date.
- The item is in its original condition, or, in the case of live parrots or eggs, evaluated and approved for return upon inspection.
Eligibility differs slightly depending on the product type, as detailed below.
A. Live Parrots
Due to the sensitive nature of shipping and caring for live animals, returns of live parrots are subject to strict review and approval on a case-by-case basis. A parrot may be eligible for return and refund if:
- The parrot arrives in poor health or significantly different condition than described.
- There is a verifiable medical issue within the first 7 days after arrival, as determined by a licensed avian veterinarian.
- The customer received the wrong species, gender, or age category.
To initiate a return of a parrot:
- You must contact us within 48 hours of receiving the bird.
- You must provide photographic or video documentation of the issue.
- A certificate or statement from a licensed veterinarian may be required.
Important: The parrot must be returned in a humane, safe manner, and must not have been subjected to harm, neglect, or exposure to illness while in your care.
B. Parrot Eggs
Fertile parrot eggs are delicate and may not always result in successful hatching, even under ideal incubation conditions. As such:
- We do not offer refunds for eggs that fail to hatch unless the issue is due to verifiable shipping damage or mishandling before arrival.
- If your eggs arrived broken, rotten, or otherwise damaged, contact us within 24 hours with photos of the packaging and eggs.
Returns of eggs are only accepted in rare cases where the entire batch is deemed nonviable upon arrival, as verified by our team.
Eggs returned without prior authorization will not be refunded.
C. Parrot Food and Supplies
Parrot food and related dry goods may be returned if:
- The product is unopened and in its original packaging.
- The seal has not been broken.
- The product is not expired or close to expiration.
Returns must be initiated within 30 days of purchase, and customers are responsible for return shipping unless the return is due to our error (e.g., incorrect item sent, product damaged in transit).
Once we receive the returned food product and verify its condition, a refund will be issued.

Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer unless the return is due to our error.

Refunds are issued once the returned item has been received and inspected. If approved, refunds will be processed to the original payment method within 5 to 7 business days.
Inspection Process
- For parrots and eggs: our avian care team inspects the returned item for health, condition, and handling.
- For food or supplies: we verify the product is sealed, unexpired, and in resellable condition.
We will notify you via email once the refund is issued. Please allow additional time for your bank or card issuer to reflect the refund on your statement.
5. Exchanges
We currently do not process direct exchanges for parrots or eggs. If you would like a different bird or product, you will need to:
- Return the original item (if eligible)
- Receive your refund
- Place a new order for the desired item
For unopened food products or accessories, exchanges may be arranged if the correct item is in stock.
6. Non-Returnable Items
The following items are considered non-returnable:
- Opened or used parrot food
- Incubated or handled parrot eggs
- Parrot health supplements
- Birds that have been outside of our facility for more than 30 days
- Custom orders or special breeds
- Gift cards
We reserve the right to decline any return that does not comply with our policy guidelines.
7. Damaged or Incorrect Orders

8. Live Animal Welfare and Return Conditions

If a returned parrot is found to be injured, sick due to customer care, or returned in poor condition, no refund will be provided, and additional fees may apply for veterinary care or quarantine.

Orders can be canceled only before shipment. If your order has already shipped, you must wait for it to arrive and then begin the return process (if eligible).
Live parrot orders are eligible for cancellation within 12 hours of purchase, as preparation for shipment begins promptly.
